Clay

Last week we were painting our clay pots and other things that were made out of clay. We got to choose what colour we wanted to use. We even got to mix colours to get other colours like grey for our animals like my rhino. It was really fun.

Week 1 Reflection

\\What:This week we made some animals out of clay and I made a rhino. We also went to badminton and learnt how to hold the racket.We looked at the rugby world cup and Dean was the winner.We also did a dance show case last term. I got a merit certificate for being the best  zombie.

So What:I learnt how to make an animal out of clay.

Now What: Next week my goal is to finish my work on time.

Week 7 Reflection

What :This week we started to do a new goal in art and it is clay.It is really hard to model things with it but we were allowed to make what ever we wanted to make. We also just had a mystery reader today, it was someone from our own school , it was Mrs McIntyre.

So What:This week I have learnt stuff about clay and how it dries up and how clay shouldn't be put down drains because it can clog up the drains.

Now What:Next week my goal is to get all of my work finished and mind my manners.

Week 6 Reflection

What: This week we went on a trip with our buddy class Room 12. We went to this Rugby Road Show by the Art Gallery. We also went to the Art Gallery. After that we made some rugby people out of thin cardboard. We are decorating it. We can move the parts of its body because we used pins to hold them together. We also had cross country. We had to run out of Gonville Domain, then we went out the front gate and we went around the roads and in the back way of the Gonville Domain. We sprinted to the finish line. I came 2nd out of the 10 year old boys.

So What: This week I learnt a new a web site called http://www.glogster.com/ where you can make your own interactive poster.

Now What: Next week my goal is to get all my work finished on time so I can get a prize.

Week 4 Reflection

What: This week we had a Mystery Reader and his name is Marty. He was a fireman. He was really funny and he had a funny book so it was really realy funny. He told us some funny things about farts and he told us that when he had bath he was farting in the bath and his wife heard him farting. We also had a reliever on Monday and it was our first time having him in our class but we had a lot of fun with him. We learnt a new game called shotting rabbits. Some people in the school had a tackle rugby game and we lost by 2 points.

So What: This week I learnt a new strategy in maths.

Now What: My goal next week is to get all my work finshed on time.

Duffy Asembly

On Wednesday we had a Duffy Assembly and a special person came to our school to tell us about her life and how she got into books. She was very funny and honest even though she told us things that would of embaressed me if I was her. She was in the Silver Ferns Netball team but then she went to play netball for the Samoan team. I heard that she played netball for the Fiji team but now she is coaching the Samoan internal team. Her name is Linda Vagana.

In room15 we are doing a poster on a person that is successful and why. the reason why we have to do this is because we need to know what to do to be successful at something. i did mine on Sonny Bill William because he is a sporty person and he is in lots of teams.

Week 1 Reflection

What: This week we got some gifts from Mrs Larsen because she went to Thailand in the holidays. We got to do a new art activity and it is collage. We are doing a tree of life. We just did a BP Technology Challenge on eating rice with chop sticks.

So What: I learnt how to eat with chop sticks and how to play with thailand toys.

Now What: My goal is to manage my impulsivity.

Week 3 Reflection

What: This week we had a lot of visitors that came to our class room. They all said we were really good and we even got gifts from them,we got little magazines, some ear plugs, some book marks and awards and some brand new books. We went to our friend Harold ,he is a giraffe. We got some activity books from him and we did some activities in the books. We had a city councillor that came in and spoke to our class and we heard about his hard life.

So What: I have learned how to make good choices by listening to our guest speaker and Harold. I also learned how to become friends again if you've had an argument with someone.

Now What: My gaol is to be king of the Den and learn new games in P.E.

Global Warming

What is global warming?

A lot of people are making too much carbon dioxide, called greenhouse gasses. The greenhouse gas goes up into the air and is making our planet hotter. Then all the polar bears and penguins are dying. All that ice turns into water and that water makes the sea level go up and floods houses and shops. 

What are the problems it’s causing?
Global warming is causing islands and cities to flood and killing animals.

What can you do to help?

Stop letting Greenhouse gases into the air by not smoking, not letting out smoke from the factories by recycling We don’t have to use fire to make things from new like glass and ice cream containers.

Week 2 Reflection

What: This week we had a celebration day because we got 10,000 hits on our class blog. We played really fun games and celebrated with junk food and I like junk food. We have started to practise for the cross country at Gonville Domain. We have had a visitor and his name is Harold. He is a puppet and he can be a person in a costume but little people think he is real but I don't.

So What: This week we learnt how to make a link list on our blogs.

Now What: My goal is to Finish all my work and do P.E all the time. I also want to do a B.P Technology Challenge.

Takle Rugby Team

This week some of the teachers were making a tackle rugby team, people had trials for that team and I made the team. We are doing training every day until next Tuesday because that is when we have the tournament.

Free Writing

W.A.L.T show ing more ditail. Last week we did some things about tacking a picture. we now do a thing when we all have a competition on taking photos and we always have a goal to do. if you win the competition you get a prise and to sit on the couch. My buddy won it because we go out on pears and take photos and make up good ideas.I got to sit on the couch as well because it was my idea to do that and our Principal is thew judge.

Last Saturday my rugby game was canceled because the grass was not nice, I did not like the grass asWell.so then I stayed the night and watched T.V and waited until it was time to go to the other rugby game because i have to be the ball boy.After the game I went to my uncles birth day because he invited us,I had lots of fun. We played the PlayStation 3and had some cake .I stayed the night at my cosins house because he wanted me to, I had a fun day.

Week 9 Reflection

What: This week we did some art. We have been blending flowers, we go over the outside of the flower with crazy paint.We also did some buddy art and we are teaching room12 how to blend too.We did some i.t on making a voki that speaks to you and welcomes you to my blog. Please look at it. I  came 1st in basic facts because  I got the hightest score because Zane was away today.

Now What:I leant how to put a voki on my blog. I learnt what the word meddle means.

So What: My Goal is to listen and not to be silly and to be a king on the success-o-meter.

Ukulele

5 weeks ago we started learning about blending with pastels. Mrs Larsen thought about what we should do and we drew ukuleles and pasteled them and made  music notes on big paper.

In Room 15 our group has been learning about complex sentences. We had to turn a simple sentence into a compound then into a complex sentence

Week 9 Reflection

WHAT: On Monday we started shared reading. The story was called the amazing machine. We also did some Kapa Haka with Matua's sisters. We did some art. We blended our flowers that we observationally drew ready to put in our vase. Some boys in Room 15 went to play Rippa. We won 2 games and drew 2.

So What: I learnt how to blend in small places for our flowers. I learnt how to put the right colours in my flowers so they look good.

Now What: My goal is to not call out in class and not talk while the teacher is talking.

Water Tower

A few weeks ago our class and Room 12, our buddy class went on a tour around Wanganui. We went to the water tower . Everyone had to bring their art book to draw the water tower. When we got back to class we had to print it out and go over it with a sharpie. Then we had to blend it with a good colour. We had to cut it out and get our normal one that was not blended and we put them together on a coloured peace of paper.

Week 7 Reflection

What: We did some stuff with our buddies. They did not know that much about Wanganui so we went out of school grounds and showed them cool places like the water tower.  We went to a show about Maori things about this man's life. We did some art on our water tower. We did our succsessful person posters.

So What: I learnt how to do a box and whisker graph. I learnt about places in Wanganui like the water tower. It was the first time I has been there.

Now What: My goal is to be at the right place at the right time. I would like to play rugby at school.

Week 6 Reflection

What:This week we each got a present from our teachers mum. We got a boomerang from Australia. Yesterday we did kapa haka. We also did more on our stem and leaf graph. We also did some handwriting, linking from h to i.

So What: I learnt more Maori. I learnt how to sing a song about greetings and linking.

Now What: My goal is to be King of the Den. I want to do a BP Technology Challenge making castles out of sand.

Week 4 Reflection

What: This week we did some handwriting on linking. We also did some I.T, getting links to our blogs. We made heaps of rules because people have not been finishing their work like you cannot have fun time or you cannot have morning tea and fruit. We did some shared reading and made our own booms-a-daisy song.

So What: I learnt how to say how are you feeling in a different way in Maori.

Now What: My goal is to be King of the Den. I would like to do a BP Technology test on make the best aeroplane

Week 3 Reflection

What: This week we did a BP Technology test and our team won it. I was so excited and happy. We got given an egg to look after for a week and my egg cracked. We are doing a project on our favourite book. We have to choose six things from our book. We started to go over lots of the graphs for maths. We are going over paragraphs and how to plan correctly together. For reading we are doing a newspaper story and activities.

So What: I learnt how to make heaps of graphs and things. I also learnt how to work as a team for the BP Tecnology test.

Now What: My goal is to send some more postcards to some countries. I want to make a bridge out of newspaper. My goal is to listen to instructions.

Week 2 Reflection

What: This week we did some blending for our art. We also did some drawings of some ukulele. We did some P.E in the mornings. We also did a BP Technology Challenge on making a castle. We also did a program called keeping ourselves safe.

So What: I learnt how to draw the shape of a ukulele. I also learnt what to do if you are home alone.

Now What: My goal is to strive for accuracy. I want to finish our work on time.

Week 11 Reflection

What: This week we have been on a website called jib jab. It is really funny because we have to choose a video and put your picture in the video. We have finished our continuouss line portraits. We also went to a show called Rayz Roadshow. He did some magic like making a card disappearr into an orange.

So What: I have learnt how to put a jib jab video on my blog. I have learnt how to make a book cover.

Now What: My goal is to be on the wall of fame and on strive for Accuracy.

Week 10 Reflection

What: This week we did two things on habits of mind. The first thing we did on habits of mind is write a poem about our five senses. Our second thing is a scribble art. We also had Kapa Haka. It was tricky because this time we had to learn our places to stand for our welcome haka. We have continued our continuous line drawing. After we coloured in our faces we coloured our background in a colour that we haven't used a lot.

So What: I have learnt how to put a blog counter on my blog.

Now What: My goal is to get my home work done.

Success-o-meter

1 week ago we started to do our Success-O-Meter. William came up with a name for our student of the week. It is now called The King of the Den. the King of the Den gets to sit on our couch. On Friday after we do our weekly Reflation we go and hang up our lion head.

Week 9 Reflection

WHAT: This week we went on a new program for I.T. We went on befunky so that we can play around with our photos so that we can put them on our blogs and make a display in class. We also had fun time. For fun time we played a catching game. Ms McAvoy had to hit a ball and we had to catch the ball and you get ten points. When you have 50 points you get to bat. We had Kapa Haka. At Kapa Haka we learnt a new Haka. It was a welcome Haka so that when a special person comes to our school we can do that Haka.

SO WHA: I learnt how to play around with our photo in befunky. I also learnt how to do a welcome Haka.

NOW WHAT: My goal is to yell when we do the Haka. My goal off the success o meter is to get  my work finished on time. What I want to do is to have a B.P technology challenge

Week 6 Reflection

What: This week we put our Avatar on our blog. We also had Kapahaka on Thursday. We didn't have a PB technology challenge because people didn't finish their work. But we did have fun time. For fun time we had an competition to see who can run the fastest across the soccer field and around the gaol post. I won so I got 100 house Points.

So What: I learnt how to put a gadget on our blogs. I also learnt how say new greetings in Maori and some ways of saying hello  to one or more people.

Now What:My goal is to get my work finished on time so that I can  do our PB technology challenge. Also to have fun time all of the time.

Christchurch

Last Tuesday Room 15 and Ms O'Conner went out of school to deliver some mail to the people that live around our school. The mail was to tell the people that we care about the Chrishchuch Earthquake and the people affected. The week after that it was Red and Black day. We had to come to school wearing red and black. We also had to come to school with some money to donate to the people in Crishchurch.

Week 5 Reflection

What: This week we did a BP Technology Challenge on Tuesday. Our challenge is to make a rooftop to protact us from the rain out of paper. Sometimes we had Ms O Conner. With Ms O Conner we played a memory game. We did lots on IT and Art. For art we did our hand monsters and for IT we created an avtar for our blogs. Some people were making blogs.

So What: I learnt how to put videos on my blog. I learnt how to use the pencil in different ways in art.

Now What: My goal is to get all my work finished on time. For our Success-o-meter is to strive for accuracy most of the time.

Week 3 Reflection

What: This week we went swimming but this time we had free time until we had to get out. We started doing our home work every night. We got to have P.E if we have finished our work. At the end of the day we can have fun time if we have enough time. We also had an assembly and we did another BP Technology Challenge.

So What: I learnt how to make a wordle. I also learnt new strategies to solve problems in maths.

Now What: My goal is to get my work finished on time to go up further on the success-o-meter. My goal is to get some ticks on our Teacher Aide Treaty.

Week 2 Reflection

What: This week we did some art work on our hands, while other people were making their blog. We also started swimming and did some tests on swimming. We have also been starting with our teacher aide ticks to be a teacher aide. We have started to do our rotation for Reading, Maths and Writing. We also started our handwriting.

So What: I have learnt how to do new art work and some new patterns.

Now What: My goal is to get my work finished on time most of the time.

Name Monsters

In Room 15 we have been we have done a piece of art on our names it is called name monster. The teacher linked our names with a pencil. We had to go over our names with black Jovi. We had to fold it in half and put it against the window to trace so you would have the same thing on the other side then it would kind of look like a monster. Then you get some Jovi's to colour it in and make it look like a monster. After all that you dye it.

Week 1 Reflection

What: This week we went over our positive choices. We got to know a lot more about each other, like what our favourite colours are and how old the other boys are. We had a snow ball fight (with paper). We started to do our me page. We took pictures of each other and put those pictures inside our lion heads. We had two lion heads to colour in.

So What: I learnt how to be a wet day moniter and do Year 6 jobs like mediation.

Now What: My goal is to follow the positive choices and listen carefully.

Week 8 Reflection

What: Today we had a spirit day, we had to  make costume out of crepe paper. We had a parade on the court with our costumes. We learnt more about air resistance and how to make our co2 cars go faster. We started to plan what we wanted our co2 cars to look like. We started to do class swimming with Room 6.

So What: I have learnt how co2 cars work.                                                 

Now what: My goal is to make my co2 car the fastest.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Camp Reflection

What: At camp we first went to the Levin play ground to play and have morning tea. We left and went to the tramway to go to the beach, then went to the Police College. We also went around the Police Museum. We were going to go kayaking but it was a little bit windy so we went rock climbing. After that we went to the Zoo and had tea at the Zoo's playground. We had a tour around the zoo then went to bed. The next morning we went to Te Papa museum and had lunch. Then we went swimming. We stayed there for 2 hours. After that we went to Capital E. The next day we went on the cable car to town to go to the Parliament then we went to the Southward Car Museum. We then went back to Carlton School and went home.

So What: I learnt about animals like what thay eat and how they live and hunt. I found out about new animals like the African Wild Dog.

So What: My goal is to find out about some more animals.

 

Week 7 Reflection

What: This week I went to interschool at Cooks Gardens to do long jump, sprints, 300 metres and relay. I went to social dancing in the hall. It was fun. We started to do our new art, it is making a hot air balloon. We learnt about friction and today we are doing our assembly item.

So What: I have learnt how to say my lines with expression for our assembly item. I also learnt about the kinds of friction.

Now What: My goal is to say my lines right and do some actions while I am on the stage.

Week 5 Reflection

What This week I have been doing some calendar art.I have been doing a star test.  I have finished my weaving art and we started to do our assembly itam ,we also started to organise our camp things. We have had a race to see who is the fastest in our class .

So what We have learnt how to add some links to our blogs and do other things on our blogs.I have done my reading activity.

Now what ;my goal is to get on with my work and finish  it all.

On Friday we had a school spirt day. We had to dress up in rubbish bags. 

Sketchcast house

Today Mrs Larsen showed me a websitw called sketchcast. We drew a house so we can put it on my blog. She also showed us how to embed it into our blogs.

Week 4 Refection

What; This week I learnt about different types of Forces.I went to Badminton we had a challenge. I had Buddy art. We learnt how to draw a fish then showed our buddy. We created a silly dancing person.

What: I have been learning about the different types of force. I have been doing buddy art. I have done high jump in athletics this week. I gets higher and higher. I have also been putting links onto my blogs.

Room 12 weaving

Me and my buddy have being lerning how to weavw. First we did straight weaving, then wavy weaving. Now my buddy is very good at weaving.
